Les Mouvements De L'Air
A collection inspired by Etienne Jules Marey's studies of the movement of air.
Etienne Jules Marey’s studies of the movement of air using smoke in 1830, was a great inspiration for me in this project. The still images inspired the draping and silhouette of the collection.
It was a natural progression from the engineering aspect of the pre-collection constructing around the concept of evolving. A subject that often follows through in my work, from the smaller details in my designs all the way through to a more technical garment. This is particularly prevalent in the the coat in my main collectionas it was constructed to have the potential to turn into several different garments de-constructing from one to the other with the use of magnets
